Thizizit

Advertising Program and Policies

How It Works

Premium listings: Advertisers can purchase one or more premium listings to promote their company's products and services. Each premium listing consists of the standard listing that appears in the search results (click here for an example), and it will expand to become a separate web page with up to four independent sections of additional text, graphics, and interactive elements. This Thizizit page will have its own unique URL (web address) by which it can be reached directly. Premium sponsors will be able to modify and update their Thizizit pages whenever they wish through a simple, user-friendly interface.

Deal of the Day Listings: In addition to their premium listings, which are permanent, sponsors will also have the option to create Deal of the Day notices that will appear on our special classifieds pages as well as in the standard search returns. These Deal of the Day notices are temporary and expire every three days; however, sponsors may reactivate them or create new ones as often as they like.

Search Terms and Listing Content: Search terms (or "keywords") are the words or phrases that users enter into the search box to indicate what they are looking for. Thizizit advertisers can make sure the right people find them by choosing the terms to associate with their listings. Sponsors designate one "primary term" and up to four more "secondary terms" for each listing. When the terms of a listing match those entered by the user, the listing qualifies as "relevant" and can be displayed in the search results. Search terms are generally two-word phrases like "latex paint" or "car repair," but sponsors can designate terms with one, two, or three words as long as they accurately describe the content of the listing

Listing Priority: Unlike most search engines, Thizizit offers sponsors a fixed position in its search results, one that is predictable and permanent.  When a user searches for something, Thizizit will display the results in a particular order. First, the results will be grouped from top to bottom in what might be called "slots":

Slot 1 Local listings with pricing information (up to 3)
Slot 2 Local listings without pricing information (up to 3)
Slot 3 Deal of the Day listing (1)
Slot 4 National listings (up to 3)
External search feeds

If a slot is empty, the one below takes its place. For example, if no listings qualify for slot 1, then those in slot 2 will be at the top of the page. Within the same slot, listings will be given priority according to their (1) primary term, (2) secondary term, and (3) creation date. So a listing whose primary search term matches what the user typed in will be placed above one with a matching secondary term. If two listings have the same terms, then the older one will come first. So, each time a new listing is created, its position in relation to a particular search is fixed. As long as that listing isn't allowed to lapse it will keep its place forever.

Local and National Listings: The Thizizit interface allows users to limit their search to a particular geographic area. The results will display the relevant local listings that are are inside the search area. When creating a local listing, advertisers choose a zip code to designate its location. They can extend their coverage by creating additional listings with different locations (zip codes). Sponsors may also purchase national listings, which do not have a fixed location. National listings are displayed regardless of the search area so long as they are relevant; however, national listings will always be placed below any qualified local listings.

Listings with Prices: Thizizit believes the best way for us to attract new and repeat users and for you to make them your customers is to answer the questions they ask. One of their most important questions is always, "how much does it cost?" If your listing answers it, we will put it in the top slot. To qualify for slot 1, your listing can give a fixed price or make a more conditional offer so long as it has some kind of quantifiable terms like $500 each, 20% off, or two for one.  You cannot just make some vague claim like "big savings" or "sale," and all your terms must be clear and free of deception.

Listing with Specifics: Although many sponsors will want a listing that describes their company in general, we strongly recommend creating one or more listings that promote a particular product or service. Some sponsors will find this easier to do than others, but we think that more specific content will give users a better response to their search.
